How do I make a flower arrangement last?

Start with cold, clean water in a vase; add the flower food packet provided and cut the stems using sharp clean shears. Re trim the ends daily as well as refreshing the water. Take out flowers that have gone by and make sure there's no green leaves in the water. Keep flowers away from heat, cold, sunlight and fans. Enjoy!

Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas can be finicky! They need very cold, fresh water and they like to be spritzed if the room is to dry or warm. When cutting the ends to put in a vase do so at an angle and snip a half inch up the woody stem for longevity.

How long can I expect my arrangement to last?

Most floral arrangements last 4-7 days or longer, depending on the flowers used and the care they receive.

How can I find out what flowers are in-season for my wedding?

Seasonal flowers are flowers that are the most available and freshest in each season. Buying seasonal also brings down the cost of the flowers because they are much easier to source out.

How can I preserve my wedding flowers?

Many brides want their wedding bouquet to last forever.  There are a couple options for doing that.

  1. Hang the bouquet upside down in a cool, dry, dark place. After it dries, place it in a box lined with tissue paper. If you don't have space to store the whole bouquet and know you would never look lovingly at a bunch of dried flowers, select a few blooms to press. Just open a dictionary, fold a paper towel over the blooms on a page, then close the book and leave it flat. The next time you look up a word―voila!―you'll find a flattened-flower keepsake. You may even decide to use a few pressed flowers to adorn your first-anniversary card.

  2. Having your bouquet professionally preserved is another option.  This is more expensive but it may give you the last beauty that you are looking for.  To do this, make sure that you protect your bouquet for the beginning. If your bouquet is dried out or crushed, it might be harder (or impossible) to preserve. If you plan to hold on to it as a keepsake, get a separate tossing bouquet, and at the reception, ask your caterer or venue manager to store your real bouquet in the refrigerator. At the very least, stick the stems in water.
